If there's one thing absolutely guaranteed to make your diet fail, it's slow progress, especially at the beginning. Diets are hard enough if you make some progress, but if nothing happens when you start, then if you're anything like me you will probably give up! So here are some exercises to lose weight fast which will kick-start your diet and put you on the road to a new, slimmer you!


Cardio-vascular exercise

This is an important aspect of your weight loss exercise routine, not just because it really burns up calories, but because it makes you fitter. If you are fitter you will be better able to perform some other fat-burning exercises. Also, don't forget that if you are currently fairly unfit, then your increased fitness will improve your general feeling of well-being, which will put you in the mindset for dieting success.

I recommend that you start to increase your exercise gradually. Depending on how little exercise you currently do, you could start by simply walking more. Walk the dog, take up golf, walk to the store instead of driving. When you're comfortable with that, think about upping the level of exercise to enable you to lose weight quickly. Join a gym, start jogging, take up a sport like tennis or squash.

Muscle training exercise

Don't worry, we're not trying to turn you into a body builder (although some of the guys will probably want to take it that far). What we're doing is turning fat into muscle, and that transition is going to make you much leaner and slimmer. Don't get hung up on how much you weigh - it's your size and your look that are important.

The sort of exercises that will help are body core exercises, like sit-ups and press-ups. Also, it's important to stretch your muscles too, to maintain flexibility. You might want to take up Yoga or Pilates - these are ideal because they don't require you to overdo things.
